Holi Festival

So as I showed you the ANTM Holi Festival style shoot, I HAVE to show you some of these STUNNING images of the Festival itself!

The Images from the other blog post are here for your perusal ^^

PS... LOOK AT THE LINK UNDER THIS PHOTO!! SUCH AMAZING PHOTOGRAPHS!!

Holi Festival is a major holiday on the Hindi Calendar. On the full moon of our month of march, their Phalgun, they celebrate the coming of spring by throwing coloured powders and waters over one another and intoxicating themselves with rich foods and the inebriating Bhang drink. The streets are a riot of colour and joy as NO ONE works and only the truly dour refuse to join in!

IT'S DIVINE! British culture should celebrate things like this!

This is where it gets intense! From Exploration-Online.co.uk
The two day festival (for the most part) breaks down all the conventional societal boundaries. While the celebrations last, rich and poor men, women and children revel in the festivities and each others company.

America's Next Top Model

What a place to find inspiration. They always do such stunning photo shoot themes and put a lot of detail into the designs for their models. Just look at these from Cycle 12:

They are all stunning images. I love the combination of thick strokes of colour and the dusting of powder. The over all look reminds me of the Hindu Holi Festival with the bright explosion of colour!

I also LOVE the simple, subtle work done on the hair. While the looks aren't dedicated to being tribal, you can see the influences of tribalism in the weaving of wool and crepe hair though the looks. The braids are DELISH!

This image HAS to be my favourite for the Make Up itself! The colour of the yellow against the models skin is breathtaking and I love that that the focus is on the inner eyes and the frame of her face! GORGEOUS!!
